The Yaros family began farming operations over 100 years ago, in the farming community of South Brunswick Township, New Jersey.
My Great-Grandfather, Grandfather, and Father were awesome potato, and vegetable farmers. I am fortunate to have inherited their love of farming the land. My father John, grew up on the family farm, as well as my brother Stephen and I. We helped our father, mother, uncles, and aunts, in the fields, every summer and after school.
We farmed potatoes, and a variety of vegetables for sale at our road side stand, or the fresh market, to which my father John, and mother Kathleen, would transport our freshly harvested produce, into the New York, and Philadelphia markets.
Unfortunately, the rapid growth of business and the development of bedroom communities began the slow take over of the once vibrant South Brunswick farming community. In 1989, my father, mother and I made the painful decision to pack up 100 years of Yaros Farms farming operations, and move it to Cape Charles, Virginia, located on the beautiful Eastern Shore.
We farm over 3000 acres at the very tip end of the Eastern Shore, in the sleepy village of Cheapside. It is here, on the Eastern Shore, where I am able to continue the time honored tradition of farming the land, passed down to me through four generations.
I now have sons of my own, and hope to cement our family's future in the agriculture business for many more generations to come.

Yaros Farms grows, packs and ships a variety of freshly harvested potatoes (whites, reds, yellows, and russets), to the fresh market, from mid-June through the first week in August. Our main crop is potatoes, but, we also plant, harvest, and ship grains, like corn, soybeans, wheat, and rye.
I decided to try my hand at growing and shipping sweet potatoes. The fall of 2019 was my first season, and I was extremely pleased with the quality and yield!
The Agricultural business has changed quite a bit from my father's days, and even from my early days in farming. New innovations in agriculture, coupled with the high demand from the consumer for quality produce on the market, and increasing competition from foreign countries, has pushed Yaros Farms to progress with the change, while staying committed to maintaining good agricultural farming practices, and care for the land.
Yaros Farms ability to adapt to the produce industries competitiveness, has solidified our place in the ever changing agricultural landscape. We continue to provide the best quality grown produce and grains in the industry.
As part of our commitment, to good agricultural practices, and stewardship of the land, Yaros Farms routinely schedules a compliance inspection with the USDA.
The USDA/GAP inspection certifies our packing house facility, and potatoes before shipment. This inspection keeps us compliant with food safety standards set forth by the USDA.
Yaros Farms maintains the integrity and legacy, set forth by my Great- Grandfather, Grandfather, and Father, in the love of farming the land, while remaining, competitive and vibrant in today's agricultural industry.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
